I just spent a wonderful 2 days in Jay Peak Vermont, where the annual New England Shoulder and Elbow Society was having their annual meeting. I was fortunate to be invited by meeting Chairman, Dr. Gus Mazzocca to discuss the concepts and our latest research regarding pyrocarbon shoulder hemiarthroplasty. The 2 days at this white peaked traditional Northeast ski resort were filled with presentations regarding the latest research and techniques of multiple shoulder and elbow specialists from top Northeast academic and private centers, including Harvard, Yale, University of Connecticut and Massachusetts, ONS, New England Baptist, Dartmouth, Hospital for Special Surgery, and other guest lecturers from the University of Halifax, Nova Scotia and Utah. The program committee saved our PyroCarbon presentation for last on Friday January 31, 2026, which provided an opportunity for the packed crowd of medical professionals to provide a well-deserved thank you to Dr. Mazzocca for all his hard work!
The audience was very engaged throughout with many thoughtful questions and comments; a clearly enthusiastic and very bright membership. Saturday Feb 1 started at the crack of dawn with well executed research presentations from the fellows and residents followed by elbow lectures and challenging cases. Overall, an outstanding meeting, it was an honor to be a part of it! HATS OFF to Gus Mazzocca MD for his tireless energy and work for organizing the meeting! It was fun to hear this packed house cheer for him and the organizing committee’s work on Friday evening of the meeting.
